Patients with periodontal disease may experience gum tissue recession and exposed tooth roots. Gum grafting can help restore gum tissue and support the regeneration of areas affected by recession.
Dr. Krauser will consult with you to evaluate your gums, discuss treatment options, and guide your care toward improved gum health.

A connective-tissue gum graft involves placing donor tissue in areas where the gumline has receded from the roots of the teeth.
The added tissue may come from the roof of your mouth or from sterilized donor tissue obtained through a tissue bank. The grafted tissue is sutured to existing gum tissue, where it integrates naturally and forms around the base of the teeth.
Local anesthetics are used during the procedure to help ensure patient comfort. Covering exposed tooth roots allows the gums to heal as treatment for periodontal disease progresses.
Pedicle gum grafting may be recommended for patients who have sufficient gum tissue near the exposed tooth root.
During this procedure, local anesthetics are used to numb the gums. Tissue located next to the affected tooth is partially separated while remaining attached at one edge. The tissue is then gently repositioned to cover the exposed root and secured with sutures.
Gum grafting can help address gum recession associated with periodontal disease and support the health of your gums.
A consultation allows Dr. Krauser to determine which grafting approach is appropriate for your condition.
