A tooth extraction is a quick and simple outpatient procedure in which a broken, impacted, or otherwise damaged tooth is removed during a single dental appointment.
While natural teeth play an important role in maintaining bite function and jawbone structure, extractions may sometimes be unavoidable.
Dr. Krauser ensures patients remain comfortable before, during, and after the procedure and keeps patients informed about each step of the process, including anesthesia used during treatment.

A dentist may recommend a tooth extraction for several reasons.
Your dentist will always attempt to save a natural tooth whenever possible, but extraction may be necessary when restoration is no longer feasible.
After determining that extraction is necessary, treatment is completed in a single appointment scheduled after your consultation.
Before removing the tooth, a local anesthetic is administered to numb the treatment area. Dr. Krauser then uses dental instruments to gently loosen the tooth from the jawbone and surrounding ligaments before removing it.
If a tooth is severely impacted, some gum tissue may need to be removed first. In certain cases, the tooth may be taken out in smaller pieces. However, most extractions are straightforward and pain-free.
After the tooth is removed, a gauze pad is placed in the socket to control bleeding while a blood clot forms and healing begins. Healing time varies depending on the extraction but typically takes about 7–10 days. Post-procedure care instructions are provided to support recovery.
When a tooth cannot be saved, extraction can help protect your oral health and prepare you for future treatment if needed.
A consultation allows your dentist to evaluate your condition and guide you through the next steps.
